Kirkby Leisure Centre

Introduction:

We have been delighted to work with Volair on this exciting new project. It is testament to the hard work of our team that we have delivered a successful, 5200 square ft floor to ceiling gym refurbishment in just 3 days. We are all proud of the new Volair gym, and we are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the members as they start to use the gym and all of the new equipment. The refurbishment of Kirkby Leisure Centre is our third project with Volair. Volair wanted to update the gym equipment and facility layout to create a more engaging fitness facility for its members and community to enjoy.

Gym Design:

We worked very closely with the Fitness Team at Volair on both the gym design and the selection of equipment. Using our 3D gym design software we created a series of visuals and a walk through video so the team could see exactly what the gym would look like before signing off on the design.

Delivery and Installation:

Kirkby Leisure Centre has a diverse membership and so it was important the equipment we provided catered for all levels, from the keen weight lifters, through to the active ageing population. Kirkby is the first site to receive our new Re-life series of Hydraulic strength equipment designed for all ages and abilities, and particularly popular with the active ageing members. The Re-life series provides users with bi-directional hydraulic resistance allowing two exercises to be performed on each machine under a constant load. In the main strength area upstairs our top of the range Platinum Strength series machines were fitted along side the Sterling series range of plate loaded equipment. In the functional area a new premium sprint track was fitted along with a selection of kettlebells, slamballs, med balls, and other studio equipment shelved on our modular storage rack. This is one of the first sites to buy our multi functional XT3 Multi Surface Prowler with 8 levels of magnetic resistance, and a wheel barrow function.

On the ground floor a range of GymGear LED 98 and 97 series cardio was installed alongside a range of HIIT cardio products including the ever popular Tornado Bikes, Blade Rowers and the Stairmaster Gauntlets.

Outcome:

The gym’s members can now enjoy a top-of-the-range gym, set over 2 floors, offering a full range of cardiovascular and resistance equipment, a function area with a sled track, a free weight area, and a new cutting-edge Re-life series machines. With the six-figure investment in the gym, Kirkby residents can enjoy the positive impact that physical activity is proven to have on the overall health and well-being of communities. With top of the range Gym Gear equipment, the Volair Kirkby gym is set to rival local health clubs and private gyms in the area.
